Injection molded PPS parts

The most common processing method for PPS material is injection molding. At our injection molding sites in Germany, China, Brazil and the USA, we process more than 550 tons of PPS granulate per year. e.g. PPS compounds reinforced with carbon fibres or glass fibres or other additives (PTFE or graphite).

Injection molding of PPS compounds - tailored to your application

In order to find the most suitable material for your applications, we work for you as an interface to our material suppliers.  
As a comprehensive PPS solution provider, we at Ensinger develop our own PPS compounds or source them from selected material suppliers. Ensinger PPS compounds are tailored to the specific requirements of the respective application.
Special compounds such as PPS GF40 (PPS with 40 % glass fibres) are suitable for components with high mechanical and thermal requirements. We also offer tribologically optimised grades, containing PTFE additives for example, in friction and wear-optimised applications. 
We process these compounds in the injection molding process into technically demanding, high strength molded parts which are used, for example, in fuel cells, medical technology or even the automotive industry. 

PPS injection molding technology and toolmaking

We have extensive experience in the development and manufacturing of molds tailored to PPS plastics. All of our PPS injection molding machines are ideally equipped for processing these high performance polymers with optimum processing parameters and temperature controls.
These machines are supplied from our material preparation and drying equipment. This is how we ensure that the specific PPS compound is available in the right quality and at the right time with full traceability at the respective injection molding machine.

We produce PPS designs with the highest complexity and quality standards, including technologies such as insert molding, overmolding and/or 2K technology.   
 For special component requirements we have our innovative and economical deburring technologies in place.

Material and weight savings, replacement of metal with fibre-reinforced PPS molded parts

We are experienced in the design of parts with minimal wall thicknesses and low material usage. In injection molding, we make optimum use of the very low melt viscosity and easy-flow molding compounds of reinforced PPS.
PPS also offers a convincing alternative to metal for many applications. We replace weight-intensive metal products with lightweight, high-strength plastic products and can also optimise the CO2 footprint for your application through lightweight construction without any performance disadvantages. 
We also use overmolding and insert molding technologies to integrate functions, reduce the cost of following processes or increase mechanical performance.

Innovative thermoplastic molded parts for fuel cells

PPS polymer is also ideal for manufacturing high-strength fuel cell end plates that clamp the fuel cell stack, hold the membrane electrode assemblies in place and ensure mechanical safety, density and electrical performance.  End plates can be produced cost-effectively and with high precision using injection molding and can still be machined if required. We also injection mold the connection and media parts.  
Thermoplastic bipolar plates made of our specially developed and highly conductive PPS compound TECACOMP PPS HTE can also be injection molded. Compared to conventional metal plates, bipolar plates made of thermoplastic materials can significantly increase the service life of the fuel cell. Economies of scale in injection molding and hot pressing can also significantly reduce the production costs of such components.

Medical instruments and components for medical diagnostic equipment

We also use PSS and customised PPS compounds in injection molding to produce components for medical devices. Thanks to their outstanding properties, PPS plastics also guarantee a high level of safety for components used in medical laboratories or hospitals.
