Working together to grow

For our employees

In addition to legal regulations, we offer initiatives to support staff development and a healthy work-life balance. These include, amongst other things, training and professional development programmes, flexible working time models and flexitime arrangements, as well as health promotion initiatives. We place great emphasis on mutual respect, open communication and team-oriented collaboration. We support this through short decision-making processes and flat hierarchies, as well as – depending on the role and location – through professional development programmes, team-building activities and coaching. At our German sites, regular updates from managers, information sessions organised by senior management, dialogue with employee representatives and the company’s suggestion scheme complement the opportunities for information and participation.

Charitable commitment

Through the Wilfried and Martha Ensinger Foundation and at its sites, Ensinger supports charitable projects in the fields of education, science and technology, cultural heritage and social development. These include, amongst others, support for the Schwarzwald-Schönbuch Youth Research Centre, the German Plastics Museum and educational projects in Bangladesh. In addition, staff at various sites are involved in social initiatives. The focus is on supporting the Wilfried and Martha Ensinger Foundation, which promotes social, scientific and cultural projects. However, direct support is also provided to local associations and initiatives in the communities surrounding the factories, as well as to the voluntary work carried out by employees. In 2022, Ensinger was recognised by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior as a volunteer-friendly employer in the field of civil protection.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: OUR EMPLOYEES

Diversity

In all its facets enriches our collaboration, the personal development of our employees and strengthens performance. Whether gender, age, origin, professional development or personality – our collaboration is characterised by respect, honesty, openness and trusting cooperation. Short decision-making channels and flat hierarchies make it possible to take responsibility and show initiative.

Equal opportunities

We aim to promote equal opportunities in terms of access to career development and leadership roles. To this end, we rely on structured development programmes, take equal opportunities into account in our recruitment and promotion processes, and enable staff to apply internally for more senior roles. We monitor progress by looking at the proportion of successful internal applications out of the total number of positions offered, as well as the proportion of women in leadership roles. Flexible working hours and the option to work remotely help, wherever possible, to balance professional responsibilities with other roles and commitments in employees’ private lives. We promote career progression within the company and access to leadership roles, and we are particularly committed to enabling women to be more strongly represented at all levels and in all positions.

Employee development

We offer an environment that takes individual needs into account and promotes personal development. During annual development reviews, we agree on objectives and offer support. A comprehensive range of training courses and development programmes for managers create the necessary conditions for this. And even when difficulties or crises do arise, mentors and support programmes help us find solutions.

Health

Health in the workplace is, first and foremost, based on safety. Our comprehensive safety programme effectively addresses hazards in the workplace. Specialists work alongside staff to analyse potential risks, develop safety measures and ensure that standards and regulations are adhered to. At the relevant sites, shift patterns are planned taking occupational health requirements into account. Occupational health specialists provide medical care for staff, offer vaccinations and provide information on various health-related issues.

STRONG TOGETHER: CHARITABLE COMMITMENT

The Wilfried and Martha Ensinger Foundation

The Wilfried and Martha Ensinger Foundation plans and organises the main charitable projects for the company and the owner family. Its activities focus on social projects in Africa (Nigeria), Eastern Europe (Ukraine) and India. In addition, scientific work in plastics technology at German-speaking universities and cultural projects in southern Germany are supported. The foundation works closely with local co-operation partners on social projects. The foundation supports selected projects over a period of several years.

Social projects in India are an important focus of the foundation's commitment. For further information, please visit our foundation page.
