Recycle for Tomorrow

Closing the loop

Ensinger only processes thermoplastics. In contrast to elastomers and thermomers, this class of materials can be remelted and recycled over and over again. The processing and reuse of plastic residues is one of the most important measures to improve the climate balance. Building a circular economy poses a new challenge. However, our history enable us to guide ourselves and our customers towards individual solutions for reducing the footprint through closed loops.

Recycling

Ensinger has extensive experience in polymer processing. Careful process management and expertise ensure that the least possible amount of impurities are introduced into the recycled material and polymer chains are not degraded. This is to maintain the technical properties of the materials at a high level and produce products that can perform the desired functions.
We intend to further expand the circular economy within Ensinger to ensure material flows and offer the highest quality reprocessed materials. In the near future, a plastic return program will be part of our services.

In addition to the use of production residues and returns, recycling is always about closing further material cycles and using waste material from the production of external companies (post-industrial) and waste from consumer goods (post-consumer).
A milestone on this path was the processing of production residues from the production of fibres and textiles as well as housings from end-of-life vehicles for the use of insulating bars (insulbar) for use to insulate metal facades and windows. These residues are sorted, shredded, washed, dried and then processed back into meltable granules as input material for the insulating bars. Accordingly, the energy for the production of new raw material (polymerisation) can be saved. As a result, up to 90 % of the manufacturing energy can be saved.
