Machining of medical composite materials

Composites play a special role in machining, both in terms of their properties and their application in medical technology. On the one hand, the properties of carbon fibre-reinforced plastics result in increased X-ray transparency and exceptional stiffness and strength. On the other hand, they are extremely abrasive, placing high demands on the tools and machines used. In addition, medical technology requires tight tolerances and high functionality when assembled with other components made from a wide range of materials.
We have been meeting these requirements for over 25 years with the appropriate machinery and specially trained staff. Common processes include milling, turning, grinding and water jet cutting, as well as gluing, assembly and hand finishing.

One-stop shop for composite machining

It is equally important to us that our customers do not have to supply additional parts or worry about peripheral processes. In line with our aim to be a one-stop shop for our customers, we also process stainless steels and unreinforced plastics. Peripheral processes such as laser marking and printing, as well as laser welding and vacuum hardening, complete our production portfolio. We use coordinate and optical measuring machines for quality assurance. In the best-case scenario, we align our measuring programmes with those of our customers in order to standardise the measuring results.
However, our "One Stop Shop" concept does not start at the manufacturing stage, but at the product development stage. Our experts support our customers during the Design For Manufacturing (DFM) process to keep the time to market of their products as short as possible.
On the regulatory side, we support our customers in the preparation of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documents. Quality management according to ISO 13485 is part of the standard as well as FDA registration.

Our product portfolio ranges from aiming devices and other surgical instruments to retractors and a wide variety of machined and turned stainless steel components. Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information and enquiries. We look forward to working with you.
