Detectable PE compound with high stiffness

The detectable compounds TECACOMP PE ID blue based on polyethylene (HD-PE) are modified with metal-based, detectable filler. They are used in applications where the high toughness of PE is desired and the stiffness of an LD-PE is not sufficient. Due to a higher crystallinity, HD-PE has a higher stiffness.

With high filler levels of metal-based additives, the compound achieves Ensinger Detection Level HIGH  and very good detectability. Even small particles of the modified plastic are detected by metal and X-ray detectors in production and packaging lines in the food industry, and contaminated products can be easily sorted out.
The compound is coloured blue (similar to RAL 5010) and is also visually detectable. Typical applications are guides, stops, rollers or sliding elements. The low glass transition point of PE also enables applications at low temperatures, for example in freeze-drying systems.

Ensinger offers TECACOMP PE ID blue as a compound. Sample sheets (80 x 80 x 3 mm), tensile test bars or a detection kit are available for detection tests.
