PTFE Valve Components for Demanding Applications

Valves control and regulate the flow of media such as gases, corrosive liquids, solvents or chemicals. Valve components made of PTFE meet the requirements for excellent resistance to these media. Many valve components, including valve bodies and seats made of PTFE, are used particularly in plants in the chemical industry or process engineering. PTFE stands out for its excellent chemical resistance and good sliding properties. Additional properties include:
  • Excellent media resistance, including many aggressive chemicals
  • Very good sliding properties
  • Continuous operating temperature of 260 °C
  • Excellent weather and UV resistance
  • Suitable for cryogenic operating conditions down to -200 °C
Ensinger offer PTFE shapes and machined parts and assists you in selecting the appropriate material. In addition, we manufacture custom valve components from this material according to your drawings.

PTFE or PEEK for Valve Components: Which Material Is Suitable?

The suitability of PTFE valve components depends on the specific operating conditions. Depending on the application, PEEK may also be a suitable material solution for valve components in addition to PTFE. While PTFE stands out primarily for its excellent chemical resistance and good sliding properties, PEEK offers high mechanical strength, stiffness, and wear resistance.

PEEK valve components are therefore particularly suitable for demanding applications with high mechanical loads, high surface pressure, or high requirements for dimensional accuracy and fatigue strength.

Selecting an appropriate material therefore requires a detailed analysis of the component requirements - from operating temperature and media resistance to mechanical and dynamic loads. Our experts would be happy to advise you on a suitable material solution as well as on the manufacturing of your specific valve component.
