BIOCOMPATIBLE PEEK COMPOSITE FOR MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY

Superior mechanical strength, dimensional stability as well as thermal and chemical resistance characterise this composite plastic. A carbon fibre fabric with a satin weave is embedded in the polymer matrix of the high performance plastic polyetheretherketone (PEEK). 
TECATEC PEEK MT CF50 S280 has supreme tensile, flexural and compressive strength, absorbs only a small amount of moisture and is particularly dimensionally stable with minimal thermal expansion (5 10-6 K-1). The permanent service temperature ranges up to 260 °C, and up to 300 °C for short periods.
The biocompatible composite material (tested for cytotoxicity according to ISO 10993-1, -4, -5, -12 and -18) is X-ray transparent, resists superheated steam and is therefore also suitable for autoclave sterilisation.
Ensinger produces coated semipregs (CP) and fully impregnated prepregs (IP) for medical technology. Further processing into organosheets (OS) and sheets (PL, TECATEC PEEK CW50 MT) in thicknesses of up to 95 mm is also carried out in-house.
