TECACOMP PPS HTE PW black 1050231
Highly filled PPS Powder for the production of bipolar plates
TECACOMP PPS HTE PW black is a highly functional PPS compound based on polyphenylene sulfide (PPS resin), developed for the production of highly conductive PPS plates for fuel cell applications using hot pressing processes. The product is supplied in a specially graded powder form, optimised for hot compression compounding (HCC) technology, and offers excellent flow and compaction behavior due to its narrow particle size distribution.
Unlike conventional PPS granules or standard PPS grades, this material was not designed for extrusion or injection moulding, but specifically for thermoplastic direct compression of bipolar plates. The combination of high-temperature-stable, semi-crystalline PPS plastics and carefully adjusted conductive fillers results in extremely low electrical resistance together with high in-plane thermal conductivity.
The PPS compound provides outstanding PPS plastic properties, including dimensional stability up to 240 °C, minimal water absorption, and long-term chemical resistance, even against phosphoric acid electrolytes in HT-PEM and PAFC fuel cell systems. The inherent flame resistance (UL 94 V-0) of the PPS base polymer further extends its potential for safety-relevant applications in mobile and stationary energy systems.
As a conductive and hot-press-optimised PPS compound, TECACOMP PPS HTE PW black is ideal for components requiring electrical conductivity, mechanical integrity, and thermal stability. Its powder morphology ensures high compaction, uniform filler distribution, and optimal contact surfaces.
The material specifically addresses hydrogen technology needs, especially for high-temperature PEM fuel cells (HT-PEMFC) and integrated heat exchanger systems. With this tailored solution, Ensinger provides a process-adapted alternative to classic PPS granules for electrically conductive components demanding maximum performance and long-term stability.
