TECACOMP PP HTE PW black 1014974

Powder for the production of bipolar plates in the hot compression moulding process

TECACOMP PP HTE PW black is a highly filled, conductive PP compound in powder form that has been specifically developed for use in electrochemical energy systems such as low-temperature fuel cells (PEMFC) and redox flow batteries. As a technologically advanced alternative to conventional materials, it offers excellent electrical conductivity combined with high chemical stability – two key requirements in hydrogen and fuel cell technology.
Unlike conventional PP granules or PP pellets, this material is specially designed for hot compression moulding. The optimised powder form with defined grain size distribution allows homogeneous surface compression while maintaining high packing density of the filler.
The compound is based on a customised polypropylene-based matrix, which gives it excellent chemical resistance to aggressive process media such as acids and alkalis. Compared to conventional PP granulate manufacturer solutions, Ensinger offers TECACOMP PP HTE PW black, a special system that is not extruded but processed in powder form – with a focus on functional sheet materials, such as for bipolar plates in fuel cell stacks.
The product meets key requirements for use in energy-efficient, emission-free applications. The technology platform may therefore also be of interest to users who purchase polypropylene granulate or PP granulate but require specific conductive materials for compression moulding.
Although TECACOMP PP HTE PW black is not available as classic PP granulate or polypropylene granulate, it specifically addresses markets and applications in which standardised thermoplastics reach their functional limits – especially where electrical conductivity, temperature resistance, and chemical resistance are required simultaneously.
