Medical grade PEEK composite plate

The specially designed materials of Ensinger's TECATEC high performance composite family offer outstanding mechanical properties and thermal dimensional stability due to the reinforcement with woven carbon fibre fabric. TECATEC PEEK MT CW50 black plates are based on Victrex® PEEK that is reinforced with 50 vol% carbon fibres. This carbon fibre reinforcement elevates the stiffness and strength to be many times those of plates made from unreinforced PEEK or plates with short fibre reinforcement. 

The medical grade PEEK composite material has been tested for biocompatibility according to ISO 10993 for blood and tissue contact. It is suitable for steam sterilisation as it shows no significant loss of mechanical properties or other negative influences, even after many sterilisation cycles. TECATEC PEEK MT CW50 black is also suitable for gamma sterilization and is X-ray transparent. This makes it an ideal material for medical applications in multi-use conditions.

Due to its good heat deflection temperatures, this carbon reinforced plastic meets the requirements for use in environments with elevated temperatures.

Carbon fibre reinforced thermoplastics, such as TECATEC PEEK MT CW50 black, have been in Ensinger's portfolio for many years and are successfully used in thousands of parts for the medical industry, especially in orthopaedics for target devices or external fixators. The fibre reinforced plastic plates are offered in 1 mm steps up to a plate thickness of 95 mm with no minimum order requirement.

For applications that do not require medical certification we offer TECATEC PEEK PL CW50 S0001 natural plates.
