PEEK - Polyetheretherketone

TECAPEEK Ensinger Plastics

PEEK material (chemically known as polyetheretherketone) is manufactured by Ensinger in standard stock shapes for machining and is extruded in sheet, rod and tube using Victrex® PEEK 450G polymer. PEEK is a unique semi crystalline, engineering thermoplastic that also offers excellent chemical compatibility.

Parts manufactured from high temperature plastic PEEK polymer can also operate at temperatures up to 260°C (480°F) and have a melting point around 341°C (646°F). PEEK plastic is often used in hot water or steam environments while maintaining physical properties such as flexural and tensile strength on a high level. Experienced users have come to realise the added value that PEEK materials bring, by offering the possibility of manufacturing parts that are lighter, stronger and able to survive longer in harsh environments.

PEEK material properties and specifications

PEEK plastics offer:

  • Very high temperature resistance
  • Exceptional chemical resistance
  • Good radiation resistance
  • Outstanding wear and abrasion resistance
  • Low smoke and toxic gas emissions
  • Excellent hydrolysis resistance (resistance to steam often used for sterilization)

Manufactured PEEK Materials

PEEK plastics modifications are manufactured by Ensinger under the tradename TECAPEEK using Victrex® PEEK polymer. The  Ensinger TECAPEEK family of high temperature plastics offer the following modifications:
