CNC machining of plastics is a method used to manufacture complex plastic components for prototypes, small batches and mass production. Ensinger has decades of experience in plastic machining. Since carrying out its first machining operation in 1980, the company has built up extensive expertise in the machining of engineering and high-temperature plastics. This results in CNC parts with high dimensional accuracy, reproducible quality and a design tailored to the material and application. These include, for example, implants made from PEEK Optima®.
This knowledge forms the basis for the production of sophisticated CNC parts across various industries. Material knowledge, engineering and manufacturing are closely interlinked, creating the foundation for cost-effective and functionally reliable machining solutions.
As a One-Stop Shop partner, Ensinger offers far more than just machining of CNC plastic parts. Within the Ensinger Group, a range of material and manufacturing expertise works in tandem. Starting with polyamide castings, composites, sintered plastics, PI powder and compounds, a variety of material and processing pathways are created. This results in intermediate products such as stock shapes and injection moulded blanks, which serve as the starting point for CNC machining.
Plastic machining is therefore not viewed in isolation, but as part of a broader solution. This allows the material selection, the intermediate product and the machining process for CNC plastic parts to be optimally coordinated. At Ensinger, you receive everything you need for your machining application from a single source. In addition to our CNC machining processes, we support you in selecting the right material and offer upstream and downstream services tailored to your specific application. Quality in CNC machining requires a controlled and traceable process chain. That is why batch traceability is a fundamental part of production at Ensinger. Documentation covers the entire process, from raw materials to the finished component, ensuring transparency and reliability at every stage. In addition, there are extensive testing and measurement procedures, including traditional gauges, tactile coordinate measuring machines and optical measuring systems.
To ensure constant monitoring of the manufacturing process, our qualified specialist staff carry out thorough in-process self-inspections. This allows the quality of the products to be continuously checked and ensured during the manufacturing process. Visual inspections during and after machining can also be carried out under a microscope to rule out even the smallest damage or material defects.
In addition, we carry out special functional tests (such as leak testing) or checks on non-visible factors on request. In laboratory tests, products can, for example, be tested for cytotoxicity, TOC, THC or bioburden.
Many applications in plastics machining place high demands on documentation, quality assurance and standard-compliant processes. Ensinger meets these requirements through a structured quality management system and the relevant certifications.
Thanks to our exemplary vertical range of manufacture, we offer numerous solutions from development to series products for a wide range of industries. This is one of the reasons why numerous companies have trusted us as a partner for many years.
