PPE - Polyphenylene Ether

TECANYL Ensinger Plastics

PPE material (chemically known as Polyphenylene Ether) is manufactured by Ensinger in standard stock shapes for machining, and is extruded in sheet and rod. PPE polymer, exhibits unusually low moisture absorption because of its inherent composition. Therefore, good electrical insulating properties are achieved over a wide range of humidity and temperature conditions. Chemical attack from water, most salt solutions, acids and bases is also minimal with PPE material

PPE material properties and specifications

PPE Plastics offer:

  • Good electrical insulating properties
  • Long term dimensional stability
  • Superior impact strength
  • Light weight
  • Thermoformable capability
  • Good hydrolytic stability

Manufactured PPE Materials

PPE plastic modifications are manufactured by Ensinger under the tradename TECANYL. The Ensinger TECANYL family offers the following;

  • TECANYL GF30 – A 30% glass filled PPE material
  • TECANYL VH2 black & grey – flame retardant materials specially formulated for aircraft interior design and aerospace applications

Typical PPE applications

  • Mechanical engineering
  • Food processing
  • Conveying technology
  • Automotive parts
  • Electrical engineering
  • Home appliances

TECANYL GF30 natural

PPE GF30 is a special 30% glass fibre reinforced product. In comparison to unfilled TECANYL, the glass filled modification demonstrates optimized properties in a number of areas.

TECANYL VH2 black

TECANYL VH2 black is a specially formulated PPE plastic designed for use in aircraft interiors.

TECANYL VH2 grey

TECANYL VH2 grey is a specially formulated PPE plastic (Polyphenylene ether) designed for use in commercial aircraft interior design.
