Glass fibre reinforced plastic (GFRP) based on polyamide 6 (Nylon 6, PA6) is ideally suited for the automotive sector and for industrial applications. The PA6 composite is also replacing a growing number of metal components in sports equipment and in the oil and gas industry. The composite material is characterised by very good mechanical properties, abrasion resistance and high elastic energy absorption. 

During production, the thermoplastic matrix material polyamide 6 is applied and melted onto a twill fabric made of glass fibres. Ensinger produces TECATEC PA6 GF45 T600 natural in 1270 mm widths as semipreg (CP) and prepreg (IP), which can be further processed into multilayer organic sheets (OS). As a stiffer alternative, Ensinger offers carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) based on PA6 (TECATEC PA6 CF50 T200 natural).
