This composite material is based on continuous glass fibres in a matrix of amorphous styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer (SAN). It is characterised by high transparency and impact strength, is electrically insulating, has low thermal expansion and good mechanical properties. 
TECATEC SAN GF45 T290 natural has proven itself, for example, as the top protective layer for solar cells and for visible components in the automotive sector. Other applications are in sports equipment and in mechanical engineering, where, in addition to the strength and rigidity of the composite, its low moisture absorption and thermal expansion also come into play.
The glass fibre reinforced SAN plastic can be used in temperature ranges of up to 90 °C, and even up to 100 °C for short periods. Ensinger supplies coated semipregs (CP) and fully impregnated prepregs (IP) as well as consolidated multilayer organosheets (OS) in widths up to 1270 mm. Other formats are possible on request.
