PE - Polyethylene

TECAFINE PE Ensinger Plastics

Polyethylene (PE) polymers are semi crystalline thermoplastics with a high degree of toughness and very good chemical resistance. When compared to other plastics, polyethylene plastic tends to exhibit lower mechanical strength and temperature resistance.

Individual polyethylene materials vary in molecular weight, which has a direct effect on the relative physical properties of each type. The most commonly used PE plastic types are HDPE and UHMW-PE There are also a variety of low density types, including LDPE. Ensinger offers extruded polyethylene rods.

PE material properties and specifications

PE plastics offer:

  • Low density compared to other materials
  • High impact resistance, even at low temperatures
  • Good resistance to wear
  • Minimal moisture absorption
  • Excellent chemical resistance
  • High corrosion resistance
  • Non stick
  • Very good electrical insulation
  • High vibrational damping
  • Pipeline for gas or drinking water
