Target arm

made of TECATEC PEEK MT CW50 black

Orthopaedic Trauma Internal Fixation Systems

The goal of orthopaedic trauma treatment is to restore a broken bone to its correct position and orientation. When this is done by means of surgical intervention, fixation systems are used to secure the bone in the anatomically correct position. Manufacturers of such internal fixation systems need to meet many and exacting requirements in terms of function, weight and appearance, at the same time as keeping an eye on the overall costs in view of increasingly tight budgets.

J-Hook

made of TECATEC PEI GW50 natural composite plates

Structural component for an airplane seat («J-hook»)

The aircraft industry exacts the highest requirements for installed materials: Low weight, high mechanical properties, fatigue resistance as well as stringent FST requirements are mandatory. Aircraft interior applications often see the use of glass fibre reinforced polyetherimide (PEI).

Mountings for electrical plug-in connections

made from a pre-preg glass fibre and PEI matrix

Mountings for electrical plug-in connections

Lightweight and high-strength materials have become indispensable for high-end applications in the aviation industry. A pre-preg approved for the aviation industry with glass fibre and a PEI matrix (polyether imide) was chosen for as a substitute to metal for mountings for electrical plug-in connections.

Winglet structure

made of TECATEC PPS CW50 black composite plates

Structural part for a light airplane («Winglet structure»)

Structural airplane parts ensure planes spend every possible minute up in the air. Every part must always work without fault and since in the aerospace industry every single gram is of importance, excessive weight reduces the payload and increases the fuel consumption. One example of these parts are so called "Winglet structures", which are used at the tip of the wing of light airplanes or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).

Inspection flaps with composite overmolding

made from TECATEC PAEK

Inspection flaps with composite overmolding

Ensinger offers a comprehensive approach to thermoplastic lightweight composite components like inspection flaps: A double belt press is used to produce organosheets from semi-pregs. These organosheets are then reheated and transferred to an injection molding tool where they are reshaped, reconsolidated, and ultimately made functional. This allows materials from the same polymer family to be combined.

Robot head: gripper

made of TECATEC PC CW50 black composite plates

Robotic gripper for a handling device

Advanced automation often requires customised solutions, in particular for the heads of the robots. Typical applications are automated solutions for handling devices and respectively their components such as the grippers.
