The Warehouse Operative - Packer will ensure complete accuracy in all aspects of their role, taking responsibility for packing, cutting and grinding (when trained) consignment stock, stock checks and general housekeeping duties. Health and Safety of warehouse employees is of utmost importance and therefore strict policies and procedures must be adhered to at all times. This is a very busy department, accuracy and attention-to-detail is imperative to the success of the Warehouse Operative - Packer. 

The Warehouse Operative will work as part of a close-knit team, to ensure the effective control of the packing & shipment function. Reporting to the Logistics Supervisor, the Warehouse Operatives function is to maintain the flow of material through the efficient processing of all items for shipment to customer and branches.  The role will also include all other areas of warehouse duties after training.   

Main Responsibilities & Accountabilities: 

  • Picking correct material using company paperwork. 
  • Utilising equipment such as fork-lift truck (when licensed) and pallet jacks to adhere to manual handling training and safety standards. 
  • To pack semi-finished goods and consignment stock using correct procedures effectively and efficiently.
  • To use machinery (when fully trained) within the department to produce cut blocks, billets, planed pieces and any other cutting duties, ensuring strict adherence to training procedures and health and safety standards.  
  • Working diligently to ensure that delivery dates and times are met for our customers. 
  • Palletising and boxing materials ready to be dispatched.
  • Fulfil training programs deemed necessary to allow efficient performance of duties and assist in your personal development.
  • Be responsible for material shipments within procedures specified by the Quality department. 
  • To comply with methods as specified within the quality manual, i.e., batch verification, first off, tolerances and NCRs.  
  • To quarantine any defective/suspect goods for the attention of the Logistics Supervisor/Quality department
  • To take a responsible approach to health, safety and environmental risks in relation to your own job role and to control the risks or report them to management as appropriate.
  • A high level of accuracy, accurately completing the relevant documentation and paperwork.
  • Ensuring the warehouse is kept clean and tidy and all fire exits and walkways are free from obstructions.
  • To use Parcel courier Portal for shipping of finished packed goods.

The package includes 28 days holiday (including bank holidays), increasing up to 33 days with length of service, an additional day off for your Birthday, free car parking, 1 x salary life cover and 5% company contribution to a pension scheme after the probation period.
